HairFit Top 5 Autumn Tips
#1 Time for Reset!
The change of seasons is the perfect time for having a bit of a hair reset. Getting your hair professionally clarified will help remove any build up from styling products, sunscreens or any salt and chemicals that may be left over from all those ocean or pool swims. An in-salon clarifying cleanse will leave your hair in tip top condition and ready for the cooler months to come.
#2 Add Moisture
The windier weather that comes with Autumn can really play havoc with the condition of your hair making it more susceptible to breakages. Add to that our tendency to more frequently pick up the old hair dryer as the weather turns cooler, really starts to take a toll on your hair. Consider using a weekly hot oil treatment to help restore moisture and elasticity as part of your Autumn hair care routine, your hair will love you for it!
#3 Make Time for a Dust
Our hair is a lot more prone to split ends in the cooler months. That’s because the conditions both indoors and out make our hair much dryer than usual. We also tend to apply a lot more heat than we do in the warmer months. The best way to avoid split ends is to get on top of it before Autumn really sets in with a good trim. But don’t despair if you’re trying to grow your hair you can always get your hair dusted which involves removing the tiniest amount of hair without impacting the overall length.
#4 Ditch the Pony
It’s tempting to wear your hair up in the colder months when a bit more maintenance is required, especially if gives you a couple of extra minutes in bed right! But tying your hair up can make it a lot more prone to breakages as the weather gets colder. Wearing your hair down a few extra days a week will really help maintain its strength. But if you’re just not up to wearing hair down more often, maybe consider a softer pinned style instead or opt for more of a scrunchie style band than a full elastic which will be a lot gentler on your hair.
#5 Warm Up
Our hair is naturally a lot lighter in Summer than in the darker colder months. Instead of opting for your usual sun kissed look, why not try embracing some of the darker tones of the season. Toasted Caramel is a great option for both light and dark hair and is really hot colour right now. This will not only add some warmth to you hair but will also give your complexion a fresh glow. Alternatively you could opt for copper or auburn hues to give your hair another dimension.
